Surrey Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity are a local group within the nationwide Sands registered charity, working to the aims and objectives set out by UK Sands.
Surrey Sands are totally self-funding, receiving no form of statutory funding and no direct funding from National Sands. All of our income is derived from donations made directly to us.
The management committee and befrienders all offer their services on a voluntary basis. We are also bereaved parents.
As a large, local group we support:
• Seven hospitals across Surrey (Epsom General Hospital, St Helier, St Peter’s Hospital, Croydon University Hospital, East Surrey,
Kingston Hospital and Royal Surrey)
• Telephone support (helpline)
• Befriender training
• Group support
• Babies memorial gardens
• Member events.
Surrey Sands was set up in 1983 to support bereaved parents.
